Mushroom Hunting at Delheim

Gourmet food-and-wine experience unveils mother nature’s pantry!

15, 16, 30 June & 1 July

Delheim’s popular Mushroom Hunting event will take place this year on 15, 16, 30 June & 1 July. The much-loved event will introduce you to the world of mushroom hunting by teaching you to identify, find and clean your own wild mushrooms followed by a gourmet food and wine experience.

Because of the delicate eco-system in which the wild mushrooms sprout the Delhiem farm can only host 40 participants at a time. Make sure to book soon as this exclusive event is highly sought after as it won a Highly Recommended Prize in the Drinks International Wine Tourism Challenge 2017.

The day will kick off at the farm’s cellars with a workshop on mushroom identification followed shortly after by a short walk into Delhiem’s pine forests for the mushroom hunting experience. This is followed by a trip to the farm’s Garden Restaurant where Chef Bruce von Pressentin will transform the day’s find into a mouth-watering three-course meal. The meal will be perfectly paired with Delhiem wines. Dishes will include roasted oyster mushrooms, preserved shiitake, foie gras parfait with wild mushroom bonbons and Valrhona chocolate-and-porcini cups.

This unique gourmet wining and dining experience priced at R695 per person includes a complimentary bottle of wine to take home. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a jersey and your own basket for the hunting experience.  The day will happen regardless of rainy weather and starts at 09:30 and ends 14:30.

Bookings open 30 April and all tickets are booked through Computicket. Visit www.delheim.com  for more information.

IMPORTANT: Wild mushrooms are completely dependent on nature and weather. It is thus impossible to predict quantities – especially after long periods of drought. Although the Delhiem experience is scheduled during the mushroom high season the farm cannot be held liable if there no wild mushrooms available.
