We all find inspiration when someone shares their story. We recognise that it takes a brave person to share their personal journey and we find comfort in being able to identify with or be challenged by situations that the writer experienced.
Sharing YOUR story can be a powerful way to raise awareness about cancer, reducing cancer risk and ultimately, the means to raising funds for patient care & support.
CANSA Shavathon raises funds specifically for cancer Survivor (patient) care & support programmes. Loved ones are also offered support.
Online Fundraisers are Storytellers
We’d like to invite you to create your own online fundraising page and share your story.
How has cancer affected you and what has made you decide to shave your head, or spray or donate your hair at Shavathon 2017?
What is it that makes you want more South Africans to be aware of what they can do to reduce their cancer risk.
Online Fundraisers will automatically be entered into our Online Fundraising Competition and top fundraisers stand a chance to win wonderful prizes (TBA soon).
The competition runs from January 2017 to 31st March 2017 at 24h00.
This means that you have until the 31st March to encourage potential supporters to make an online donation towards your fundraising project.
Create Your Fundraising Page
What are you waiting for? You have already decided to participate in Shavathon, why not quadruple the funds you would be able to raise when shaving, spraying or making a hair donation, by creating an online fundraising page and promoting it to all your personal contacts.
Opening your fundraising page is as easy as 1, 2, 3…
- Follow the instructions on this web page and download PDFs: Tips – Creating Your Online Fundraising Page and Promoting Your Online Fundraiser
- Challenge all your contacts TO SUPPORT your shave / spray / hair donation at Shavathon by making an online donation to your page
- Promote the URL to your fundraising page REGULARLY on EVERY platform available to you – do this by sharing news updates or new pics with your contacts (building up to Shavathon; action at Shavathon; income raised after Shavathon, thanks to donors, etc). Plan your campaign so that you have something new to say and an excuse to promote your fundraising page URL on all platforms, over the next 5 1Ž2 weeks, until the competition closes – see tips to promote here…
We can’t wait to read your story and will be promoting your fundraising efforts via future eNewsletters and on our social media platforms.
